Unlocking Creativity: How to Fill Your First Full Sketchbook by Drawing Every Day

Welcome to my journey of creativity, growth, and a whole lot of sketching! It all started with a humble A6 sketchbook from Greyfriars Art Shop in Edinburgh. At first, the small size felt manageable, perfect for quick doodles and capturing spontaneous ideas. But as the pages filled, I began to realize how limiting that small space was for my expanding imagination. Now, I've upgraded to a more spacious A5 sketchbook, and I couldn't be more excited about the possibilities it holds. Its worth noting that my approach was to do one drawing a day - something which in my larger sketchbook has been thrown out. Allowing my every day sketchbook to be where I hold ALL my ideas, and sometimes covering many pages per day.

Drawing every day has transformed my artistic practice. The discipline of daily sketching has not only improved my technical skills but also unlocked new levels of creative thinking (which i'd say has been the bigger challenge). It's been a chaotic, beautiful journey, but I feel like i'm hitting my stride with ideation of new ideas and how to express them faster than ever.

Here, you'll find a collection of 45 pages from my very first sketchbook. These pages are filled with the raw, unfiltered chaos of daily creativity. Each sketch tells a story of experimentation, learning, and growth. From quick doodles to more elaborate pieces, this gallery captures the essence of my journey as an artist. I've tried my best to track the times of each doodle - I hope it inspires you to pick up a sketchbook and start your own creative adventure. Enjoy!
